Welcome to the PowerWindows update V 1.1.1! It's only a small update be-
cause actually I don't have very much time to work on PowerWindows. The
update fixes some bugs and brings you new versions of some of the Power-
Windows utilities:
You should install the update by double-clicking the "Install"-Icon. If
you are using an old version of the "Installer" you might not see all of
the text or might not get the correct language (the script is in german,
english and italian - if you don't get the correct language try adding
the tooltype "LANGUAGE=italiano", "LANGUAGE=deutsch" or "LANGUAGE=english"
to the Install-Icon).
Warning: o This update was created in a rather great hurry. Making backups
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ of old files (or the whole PowerWindows-Directory or lha-archive
) is probably more than just a good idea. You have been warned!!
o Users which used the "DontIconifyReq" trick to get ARQ, Assign-
Wedges etc. working watch out: This trick does not work any-
more!!!!! Use CyReq and "Don't patch Requesters" instead!!!!
Also "DP=??" should not be used (needed) anymore when using
CyReq.
Files in this Archive:
======================
o "PowerWindows"
New version of the executable which fixes some bugs and has also a new
'feature': With "DONTPATCHREQ" you can tell PowerWindows not to patch
EasyRequestArgs() and AutoRequest(). This should make Requester-Improvers
and -Replacers, Assign-Wedges, etc. work again, but it should only be used
when you are running a requester-replacer (such as ARQ) or CyReq (included
in this archive), because otherwise you will loose memory every time you
open a standard system requester.
Another new feature is that now PowerWindows will be terminated when you
try to start it twice. PW_Stop is not needed anymore (although it's still
working)
[INSTALLER] : Will be copied to PowerWindows directory and WBStartup (if
[INSTALLER] : an old executable was found there)
o "PowerWindows.gui"
New GUI-File for PW_Prefs that makes appear the "Don't patch Requesters"
option in the "General"-Page.
[INSTALLER] : Will be copied to PowerWindows directory
o "PowerWindows.pio"
New PIO-File for PW_Prefs. It's necessary for being able to use (save and
load) the new option "Don't patch Requester".
[INSTALLER] : Will be copied to PowerWindows directory
o "Tools/StackAttack"
New version of StackAttack, the utility that increases the stack of other
programs. It has been completely rewritten and now also patches Run-
Command() and SystemTagList(). Nevertheless it's shorter now and should
'kill' even more strange and casual GURUs!
[INSTALLER] : Will be copied to PowerWindows/Tools/Shell directory and C:
[INSTALLER] : The installer script asks you whether you want it to insert
[INSTALLER} : a start-line to the startup-sequence or not
o "Tools/CyReq"
New utility that should make Requester-Improvers, -replacers, Assign-
Wedges etc. work again, if you use the new PowerWindows option "Don't
patch Requesters" (DONTPATCHREQ). This utility should be started very
early (either at the beginning of the User-Startup or somewhere (but
after "S:SetPatch") in the Startup-Sequence). It must be started with:
run <>NIL: CyReq
[INSTALLER] : Will be copied to PowerWindows/Tools/Shell and C:
[INSTALLER} : The installer script asks you wheter you want it to insert
[INSTALLER] : a start-line to the user-startup or not
o "Tools/Waiter"
New utility that can be used to get a short delay between the startup
of two programs in the WBStartup Drawer:
Although you can give the programs in the WBStartup Drawer a start
priority (Tooltype: "STARTPRI"), it's not granted that the program that
starts first (higher startpri) installs it's patches before the program
started next (lower startpri). This is because most programs in the
WBStartup have set the tooltype "DONOTWAIT" and therefore even if program
"B" was started second it might install it's patches before program "A"
(it might have to do less setup).
With Waiter you can force a delay of some seconds (tooltype "WAITSECS")
between the startup of program "A" and program "B" by giving Waiter
a startpri between program "A" and "B".
If you are using "WBStartup+" you probably don't need this program as
"WBStartup+ seems to feature a "WAIT=
" tooltype which forces a delay
of
seconds before the next program gets started.
[INSTALLER] : Will be copied to PowerWindows/Tools

Other Files:
===========================================================================
o "FileAttack"
Great new program of mine that is used by the installation script. It
allows you to select at which line to insert a certain Text (file) in
a destination file (example: StackAttack to s:startup-sequence).
FileAttack has an incredible nice GUI and is very easy to use (with
a lot of key short-cuts).
FileAttack is not yet completed: Help-Button does not do anything.
You can tell FileAttack to delete some lines in the destination-file
by using CONTROL + LEFT MOUSE BUTTON. Move around with the mouse and
the lines you touch will change color. This lines will not be saved
when clicking on "Save".
Important: You (programmers) are actually not allowed to include this
program in your archives. I will probably release it sooner
or later as shareware (contact me if you are interested in
using it). The shareware fee will probably be not very high
(maybe 5 or 10 $)
o "Images/PWLogo2.gif"
PowerWindows Logo created with Maxon Cinema 4D 1.5!
o "ShowLogo"
Little program that shows "PWLogo2.gif" but only on OS >= 3.0
o "Start_CyReq"
CyReq-Startup Text (script) that is added to the user-startup by
the installer script (using FileAttack)
o "Start_StackAttack"
StackAttack-Startup Text (script) that is added to the startup-sequence by
the installer script (using FileAttack)
o "Read"
Little program used when you double-click on "Update.readme". It tries to
find "MultiView" or "AmigaGuide" in several directories and then starts
it to view "Update.readme". No more "Unable to open your tool 'multiview'"
o "catalogs/"
Catalog-Files (.cd/.ct/.catalog) for FileAttack
